FAQ’s for Trade Sourcing

  • What is Trade sourcing?

    “To the trade” means brands who strictly sell furniture and decor to businesses in the design trade. They are often more unique, better quality, and customizable. There are hundreds of furniture and decor brands not available for the public to directly purchase from.

  • What is a design coordinator?

    With our trade sourcing option, our room makeover service includes a complimentary design coordinator with your purchase. They are the liaison between furniture brands and our clients. They will place orders with various vendors and arrange shipment and delivery to our clients.

  • Can I buy furniture on my own?

    If you wish your designer to source from online retail stores only, you are responsible for all purchases. If you wish your designer to include ‘to the trade’ brands in their sourcing, we will place all furniture orders to our trade vendors. If your designer sources from both retail and trade vendors, you are responsible for the retail purchases.

  • What kind of discount can I expect on furniture?

    Every trade vendor has their own price for designer purchases. On average, we can pass on a 20% discount from the vendor’s retail price. If you purchase many trade items for your room, our trade discounts may make up for the cost of your design service.

  • Can I return furniture?

    Different vendors each have their own return policy. Most trade brands do accept returns if an item is defective or broken in shipment at no cost. If you do not like an item when it arrives, some vendors do accept returns if you pay for shipping. Our design coordinator will let you know if an item is non-returnable before we place an order. They will also coordinate any client return.

  • Am I obligated to purchase furniture with my room design?

    Absolutely not. After your room makeover meeting and sourcing is complete, our design coordinator will send a detailed sourcing list of every item and price. You simply select which item you would like to order.

  • How much time do I have to place an order?

    After you receive your detailed souring list from our design coordinator, you have 30 days to place an order. After that time, we cannot place orders due to stock limitations.

  • Can I get a discount on retail only sourcing?

    Unfortunately, we are not able to pass on any trade discounts at online retail stores where you are the purchaser. But we will pass on discounts to all items we purchase with our trade vendors. If you opt for trade sourcing, it is up to your designers professional opinion which items work best for your space and within your budget, whether that is an item from a trade vendor or a retail store.

  • Is this only for US clients?

    Yes. Although we cannot guarantee shipment to Canada, some of our vendors will ship at an additional cost. However, we do feel the benefits of trade sourcing would be outweighed by the costs of delivery.
